The 2010 Rutgers Bloustein School Community Development Studio worked with Episcopal Community Development, a non‐profit organization in Newark, to better understand the neighborhood context of foreclosure and to consider approaches for neighborhood revitalization. The team approached the project as an opportunity to reconceptualize community development. While they focused on foreclosure, they also explored a more comprehensive strategy that integrates home, health, and food. To do this, they mapped foreclosures, identified which foreclosure filings were still in process, which properties were REO and were likely to become REO, and thought about food as a tool for community development.
