The Ralph W. Voorhees Center for Civic Engagement, in a study funded by the Taub Foundation, strove to understand non-school barriers to children doing well in Paterson, New Jersey. The questions asked in this report, “Impact of Paterson’s Environment on Children,” were (1) what environmental, socio-economic, and contextual stressors affect children?, (2) how do organization mitigate these stressors and where are the services located?, and (3) what should organizations serving children know?
