RU Engaged featured in Rutgers Today

RU Engaged was featured in Rutgers Today. The article discussed the Byrne seminar’s alternative spring break where students participated in hands-on community engaged work with a number of local organizations throughout the week. Students learned about food security with Unity Square Community Center, REPLENISH, and Elijah’s Promise. They built planters and raised garden beds, unloaded pallets of food, helped pantry neighbors make food selections at Unity Square, prepared food at Elijah’s Promise, prepped existing beds and cleaned up the Suydam Street garden, made seedling kits for children, snack packets and cards for REPLENISH, among many other fun and exciting activities. The program will expand next year.
