Carolyn Swope is a PhD Candidate in Urban Planning; Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and holds an MPH in Sociomedical Sciences. Broadly, her research interests focus on the relationship between housing and health disparities, with particular attention to historical housing policies producing present-day housing inequities. Carolyn’s dissertation examines how gentrification is connected to other forms of racialized dispossession, and how this informs its effects on health for Black residents.
