Esther Colon is an undergraduate RISE (Research Intensive Summer Experience) Fellow at Rutgers. She is pursuing a major in Socio Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Human Rights at the University of Puerto Rico where she is working on her dissertation in urban anthropology with Dr. Carmen A. Pérez-Herranz. She is interested in the different social problems within urban areas, specifically those related to her neighborhood in Puerto Rico, Santurce. As a RiSE scholar of 2022, she hopes to expand her knowledge about urban research processes and fieldwork.
